About Me
Hello and welcome to my blog!
My name is Langley Sebastian, and I am a 23-year-old from Ashland, Kentucky. I am a 2023 graduate of Transylvania University with a degree in International Affairs, and I'm a returned Peace Corps volunteer who was stationed in rural Cameroon. I am currently pursuing my master's in global security at King's College London while living in Sicily, Italy, working as an au pair.
Growing up in the heart of Appalachia, I was surrounded by the beauty of nature and the warmth of a close-knit community. But as much as I loved my hometown, I always felt a sense of wanderlust for the world outside my own. That's what led me to International Affairs, and it's what led me to Cameroon and now Italy.
In the Peace Corps, I worked as an agriculture extension volunteer, where I promoted food security by empowering small-holder farmers to implement sustainable and productive agricultural techniques. My work in Cameroon was incredibly fulfilling and I long for the day I get to return.
Throughout my academic career, I have had the opportunity to tutor students in international politics and Spanish courses and work in the university's writing center, which are experiences that have deepened my passion for learning and writing and have inspired this platform for me to share my adventures. I also enjoyed playing collegiate golf, participating in advocacy work, and living and learning with my best friends. Outside my academic pursuits, I enjoy cooking, nature, and meeting new people.
It was my hope to share the unique experiences I had in Cameroon and now in Italy. I will continue to share my stories from Cameroon, though my service there has ended. So, whether you're a Peace Corps hopeful, curious about life in Cameroon or Italy, or feeling obligated to read because you're family, I invite you to join me on this journey.
